Ancient Vedas

The Vedas are a collection of hymns and other ancient religious texts written in India between about 1500 and 1000 BCE. It includes elements such as liturgical material as well as mythological accounts, poems, prayers, and formulas considered to be sacred by the Vedic religion. The basic Vedic texts are the Samhita of the four Vedas:

  1. Rig Veda
  2. Sama Veda
  3. Yajur Veda
  4. Atharva Veda

Heritage Sites in India

A Natural Heritage Site is a landmark or area selected by the UNESCO having cultural, historical, scientific or other form of significance, and is legally protected by international treaties. India has seven natural heritage sites affiliated by UNESCO.

  • Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area
  • Kaziranga National Park
  • Keoladeo National Park
  • Manas Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks
  • Sundarbans National Park
  • Western Ghats
